Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes is pushing for Newcastle to bring in an Italian coach to replace Steve Bruce, according to a report.
The former defender left St James’ Park by mutual consent on October 20. His departure was a direct result of the club’s huge £305m takeover, which looks set to catapult them up the Premier League table in the future.
Newcastle officials have installed Graeme Jones as interim boss while they search for Bruce’s successor.
Paulo Fonseca is one rumoured target. The 48-year-old has managed Porto, Braga and Roma so far in his career.
